No Recipes by Mauro Anzideo is the author's first autobiographical book and subtitled 'Diary of a Heretical Cook in Asia.'

NO RECIPE: THE FIRST AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL BOOK BY MAURO ANZIDEO

Mauro Anzideo throws us into contemporary Asia, so different from what he imagines: amid shamans, Buddhist monks and freeloading travelers, the writer tells of ramshackle kitchens, shacks on the Mekong and unscrupulous entrepreneurs.
Of his 10-year journey between China, Vietnam, Nepal, Thailand and Cambodia, covering 3,500 km on a tricycle, Anzideo gives us a glimpse of a society poised between barely surviving traditions and the unbridled rush toward the stereotypical prosperity of the West.
Moving as a chef in search of a job, made more difficult by his choice to cook and feed himself exclusively with plant-based ingredients, he encounters love, genuine friendships, and finally the chance to open a small restaurant in a village in the mountains.
The balance achieved suddenly collapses, and Mauro is forced to leave his life rooted in the lands of Yunnan.
Through exile and finally returning to Italy, Mauro Anzideo realizes that losing everything hides the possibility of reinventing oneself and reading one's history while still finding beauty and meaning in it.

THE AUTHOR: MAURO ANZIDEO

Mauro Anzideo (Milan, 1981) is a chef with 20 years of experience in the restaurant world.
In 2010 he left classical cuisine and approached vegetarian and then vegan cuisine.
From 2009 to 2018 he lived in Asia, moving from restaurant to restaurant and working in consulting and project development.
In 2018 he returned to Italy, but his restaurant 'Hungry Buddha' is still open in Shaxi.

MAURO ANZIDEO'S ASIDE.

"I really like to dwell for months or even years on some thoughts and grind them fine until I grind myself into them. I think that then, once the thoughts are rendered into dust, they pass better into the fine mesh of the subconscious and from there on enter the DNA, gradually notching up the karmic database of the journey in the soul."
