WHAT IS DRYING

Food drying is an effective method of making fruits, vegetables, herbs, meat and other foodstuffs storable. Storage of dried foodstuffs is simple and takes up little space. The shelf life can be extended further by placing the foodstuffs in vacuum-sealed containers.
The groceries you have dried at home in the dryer may look different from the groceries you buy at the supermarket or herbal store. The reason lies in the fact that in your dryer you use neither artificial coloring nor
preservatives.

DRYING FRUITS AND VEGETABLES

To proceed, you should remove any seeds, stones and other harmful components. Cut or grate the food items you want to
dry into the desired shape (for example, cut apricots in half). If desired, the vegetables can be blanched first and the fruit sprinkled with lemon, sugar, cinnamon, honey or grated coconut.
Fruit with naturally waxed skins (e.g., grapes and figs) and with long cooking times should be blanched first. Remember to place the fruits on the grates so that they do not touch each other.
Each grate can carry about 3 apples cut into small pieces. You can also use all 5 grates at the same time.

MEAT DRYING

Remove the fat and tendons from the meat, then cut it into thin strips.
Marinate the meat for 6-8 hours, then place the strips on the grates. Again, they can all be used at the same time.

DRYING FLOWERS AND HERBS

Cut flowers or herbs if possible in the late afternoon (not early morning because there is still too much moisture on the petals and herbs. Prefer flowers or herbs that are still firm and not fully bloomed, as fully bloomed flowers lose their petals during drying. For herbs, you can use either whole stems or individual leaves. Cover the grates with a thin layer of flowers. Then proceed as for other foods.
To make a potpourri with your dried flowers, pour the dried flowers or leaves into a vacuum-sealed container (preferably glass).

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

After use, clean the machine with a slightly dampened cloth.
Underno circumstances immerse the machine in water for cleaning.
Do not use strong detergents, scouring pads or other abrasive objects.
