Since that 1999 Martin has studied and deepened, becoming an expert in rum and exotic cocktails over the years. He worked as a bartender at Trader's Vic in San Francisco and opened several bars including Forbidden Island, the famous Smuggler's Cove, as well as Whitechapel,Hale Pale, and others.

Thanks to his studies and passion, Smuggler's Cove has been recognized as one of the best 50 bars in the world by several magazines and organizations. Not only that, his culinary offerings have earned him recognition as one of the top 10 concepts of the past 25 years, according to Cheers Magazine. Finally, he has been named one of the world's 12 most influential bars of the 21st century by Liquor.com.

Rebecca continues to nurture and share this passion, collaborates and runs Smuggler's Cove but in parallel finds time for a doctorate in Personality and Social Psycology . Last but not least, she contributed substantially to the writing of this text.
