Rome Bar Show, RG Mania at the first edition of the nation's premier mixology event

RG Mania attended the first edition of Roma Bar Show, Italy's big event dedicated to mixology and spirit industry: the numbers and our impressions.

RG at Rome Bar Show

Roma Bar Show... RG present! Camilla, Giorgia and Nicola visited the first edition of the event that was missing in the Italian scene: the one on mixology and spirit industry. In the evocative location of the Palazzo dei Congressi in Eur, on Monday, September 23 and Tuesday, September 24, international professionals and guests gathered to share experiences and knowledge on trends and news in the industry.

Negroni and thematic areas

The first Roma Bar Show celebrated the centenary of the Negroni, declined by some of the most important Italian bartenders. Thematic areas included the Gin Area, which involved domestic and foreign companies; the Mexico Village, which recounted the traditions of that land thanks to a themed cocktail bar; and the Terrace of the Palazzo dei Congressi, with its belvedere that celebrated the Italian aperitivo with a series of dedicated events.

Events and masterclasses

Talks, lectures and masterclasses enlivened the two days in Rome, thanks to 8 international speakers who took turns on the stage of the Capitalis Auditorium to deal with topics related to the world of mixing; not forgetting the off-show and side events dedicated to a varied audience, from the Italian final of the cocktail competition "The Vero Bartender" to the arrival of "La Classica by Martini 2019," a bicycle race that gathered bartender-cyclists from all over the world.

Rome Bar Show, an Italian event with an international profile

RG 'wandered' through the heart of Rome's Palazzo dei Congressi, among wines and beer, spirits and spirits, the stands of major and independent companies, food pairing and street food, but most of all the bartenders and their drinks. The organizers themselves explained how the project "stems from the need to meet and compare in an Italian event with an international profile, with the aim of elevating the activities of the mixology and spirit industry in our country. The event aims to become in Italy the leading trade fair dedicated to the world of bar, beverage and hospitality."

Where we can improve

Although we encountered a few issues that we hope will be solved in the next editions - the delay in the opening on Monday morning, the queue at the entrance caused by the organization of the ticket office, a certain delay in the distribution of disposable products to industry professionals and the food part dislocated only outside (and thank goodness that the weather over the Capital was clement) - in our opinion the Italian Bar Show was born under the best auspices and there are the conditions for which it can improve.

Rome Bar Show, numbers and records

The numbers show how the start was definitely positive: 8 Academy Labs, 10 Main Seminars, 14 thousand bottles of water and 15 tons of ice distributed, 28 tasting rooms, 185 booths and 9628 total attendance; and also 3 Italian finals, the first Buchi technical lab in the world and the largest mixology seminar ever, all on about 8 thousand square meters... and here's to all Roma Bar Show!
