In the porcelain bowl is good wine (and more)

Between tradition and innovation, the porcelain bowl designed for Piacenza wine is now open to new uses: breakfasts, lunches and aperitifs, from taverns to trattorias to agritourisms.

The porcelain wine bowl

The best part of any innovation lies in making the most of what it teaches us--tradition. A discourse that applies in any context, but even more so in restaurants, where sometimes experimentation reaches heights that are difficult to understand, while often the winning choice is to focus on simplicity - obviously not an end in itself. A typical example is the wine bowl (and as we shall see, not only) made of porcelain, strongly rooted in the Piacenza and Parma areas, but not for this reason not usable in other realities.

Trattorias and cutting-edge establishments

Designed especially for bulk wine, especially that served in rustic and informal settings, the bowl is the symbol of what taverns, trattorias and agritourisms bring to the table; country restaurants and avant-garde establishments also fit perfectly with the style of the bowl, which is durable and dishwasher safe. Everyone as a child happened to see grown-ups drinking wine, begging them to have a drop: in how many homes was the drink served in such a bowl? The intent of those who go to the type of establishments mentioned is to (re)find a family atmosphere, good homemade food ... and something to bring back memories of grandma's house.

The "scudlein" for Gutturnio.

This crockery, whose characteristics are the lack of a handle and having a foot reinforcement at the base that guarantees its stability, can also be used at breakfast with caffelatte, at lunch for soups in broth and as a container for aperitifs and appetizers. The tradition, which has survived in peasant contexts and in the countryside of Piacenza, consists, as mentioned, of drinking wine inside it rather than in glass or crystal glasses; this is something preserved to the present day, perhaps because the conformation of what the people of Piacenza call a "scudlein" allows local wines, starting with Gutturnio, to be best enjoyed. The scudlein presented by RG Mania has, not surprisingly, the shape and size required by places that offer typical products.

The bowl between past and future

The white bowl symbolizes a more human way of approaching wine, but also an innovative proposal in respect of values, while not exalting its aromas it is able to create conviviality, and why not connectivity, thanks to its ancestral and therefore reassuring aura. For hot breakfasts and lunches, unconventional hors d'oeuvres, but above all drinks in company, perhaps playing trump in front of a slice of salami: the bowl proposed by RG Mania embraces and embraces you, a bridge between the past and the future of catering and beyond.
