KON
The Kon tiki owes its name to the ancient Inca god of rain of the same name. In honor of this same deity, Norwegian explorer and writer Thor Heyerdahl named his raft the Kon Tiki. With this rudimentary means of transportation he crossed the Pacific Ocean from South America to the islands of Polynesia in 1947.
